Alemdara is a collection that centres itself around Turkish mythical symbols traditionally used for protection and safe-keeping. The collection comprises of a selection of dainty necklaces and bracelets, handmade in 18 carat white, rose, and yellow gold, all embellished with diamonds, precious stones or coloured enamel - each bringing with it a form of protection for its wearer. The range of delicate pieces are designed to be worn everyday.Using traditional Turkish techniques, every individual piece is hand-crafted by artisans with generations of experience, for a truly unique finish. The elegant designs, mean that Alemdara jewellery is suitable for any and every occasion: be it a yoga class, a cocktail party or a black tie event, they epitomise the art of day-to-night accessorization. The pieces can be styled with existing favourite jewellery, layered up together or simply worn on their own. Mariella Tandy created Alemdara after her own enamel evil eye bracelet continuously attracted attention. The bracelet was given as a gift of protection by her Turkish mother-in-law whilst she was pregnant. As per Ottoman legend, a Hand of Hamsa or an evil eye on your person wards off any ‘evil eye’ or jealousy from others, such are their ability to dispel negative thoughts and energy. Mariella is the Executive Fashion and Retail Editor at Tatler magazine, and is based in London.
