As long as Bill can remember he has been fascinated by craftsmanship, quality, creativity and design. This fascination has endured and remains central to our Company today. Bill studied at Sir John Cass College of art and after graduation began working for a number of companies in London’s famous Hatton Garden area. Here he learnt and discovered a gift for pattern making and soon became known as a craftsman and designer of note, working freelance, for amongst others: Asprey, Garrards and Van Cleef and Arpels. During the 1980s with his work attracting critical acclaim Bill began working with Butler and Wilson and Vivienne Westwood, and so began a long association with the world of fashion jewellery, that continues to this day. Bill’s work grew progressively throughout the 1990s into a thriving business, covering a wide range of jewellery for many of the world’s best known brands and included a number of Royal commissions. Drawing inspiration from his own unique history, Bill launched his first ‘Bill Skinner’ range in January 2012. This debut collection was a fittingly distinctive and truly stunning first offering, each piece hand carved by him and his UK studio team. In the year that followed the collection received much critical acclaim and has gone from strength to strength.
