Launched in September of 2007, GENETIC immediately became recognized for the signature soft fabrics, flattering silhouettes and incredible fit. Today, GENETIC continues to set the brand apart from the competition, creating innovative collections that cater to multiple individuals, both modern and classic, while continuing to evolve cut, construction, and fabrics. Since the beginning, Founder and Creative Director, Ali Fatourechi, has always taken a non-conventional approach to formulate his concepts, embodying an entrepreneurial spirit with a disruptive approach to understanding silhouettes, design and ultimately the women he would one day make clothes for. With a desire to understand the true psyche of a woman, in 2005, Fatourechi embarked on a grass-roots mobile clothing tour, visiting 42 cities across America analyzing and studying his subjects. In what became an intimate journey, Fatourechi was able to encounter all different types of women, gaining an invaluable understanding of a woman’s psychology when looking at herself in the mirror. Through this tour, he used the information that he compiled to develop his subconscious muse and form the concept of GENETIC. Today, Fatourechi continues to push the envelope in terms of product development, fabric, fit, and design, while drawing inspiration from those closest to him. He has created GENETIC for a chic, sophisticated and modern woman with an edge that embodies a strong sense of self and a healthy arrogance. Through his approach, Fatourechi has been able to create his initial core styles - cool, uncomplicated, comfortable, and perfectly fitting silhouettes rendered in the softest Italian, Japanese and Turkish fabrics. Core silhouettes include a skinny-leg, cropped cigarette, straight-leg and flare, serving as modern renderings of the classics. Fatourechi continues to guide the direction of the brand through his personal voyage. Through this journey, he has established a global presence in major department and specialty stores. To Fatourechi, the true definition of GENETIC is all in the word. It represents a person’s genetic composition, helping shape and define the message to believe in one’s self.
