mahabis represent a search for adventure in the everyday. perfection in the mundane. we set out trying to reinvent something age old, often taken for granted, an accessory that accompanies us in our daily lives but often goes unnoticed. our journey began when we realised that the slipper hadn’t been redesigned for many years, that no brand existed which made us proud to wear slippers. inspired by cultures from regions as varied as india, scandinavia and morocco we set out to redesign the shape and feel of the slipper, whilst retaining some key characteristics of the classic model. the slipper needed to look good, feel good, and most importantly, be functional for day-to-day use. during the design and development process we came up with the concept of creating a detachable sole. it added both form and function to mahabis, and did so in a manner that changed the way the entire product could be used. based in london and connected with staff across the world, we're trying to develop a piece of footwear that bridges the gap between comfort, functionality and style.
