Born in Parma on the 5th May 1981, it was in this beautiful city that Maria Lamanna grew up and studied Modern Art. In 2007, she moved to South Africa to work as an organiser of business-to-business meetings for the Italian Chamber of Commerce. Her love for design, transmitted to her by her parents who are both architects, inspired her to design her first bag. The construction techniques and workmanship involved in creating each piece as well as the fascinating evolution of the fashion business provided her with the impetus to create the Maria Lamanna brand. On returning to Italy in 2012, despite the unstable economy, the young designer decided to create her first bag utilising high quality Italian production techniques. Maria Lamanna is inspired by an antique style that, at the same time, offers a contemporary slant on Made in Italy craftsmanship.
