Sinead’s practice is heavily influenced by the Fine Arts, particularly in abstract painting. Sinead hand paints each bag individually, creating one-off art pieces. The process of making the bags is no different to a painting which you would hang on a wall with each bag taking hours to finish from mixing the colours to sewing. The way which the canvas has been treated creates a very sturdy material which is also completely waterproof. The experimentation of colour harmony is a continuous process. Sinead is always developing new combinations inspired by her experiences, and the outcome is a pure unconscious representation of them. Sinead But graduated from The University of Arts London in 2009. She started her bag adventure by exploring colour and mark making as a means of meditation while working various part time jobs. After testing the hand painted effect on canvas, Sinead realised that the textual result had the potential to create something that exists between art and textile design. After sewing together her first bag by hand it was soon obvious that there was the opportunity to provide someone there own piece of artwork and a completely unique garment. The business was launched in April 2013. Together with the emotive decorative nature of the bags, Sinead’s knowledge of fashion and tailoring has also meant that the level of durability and practicality of each bag is immensely high. This focus on individual creativity, quality and experimentation will always be at the heart of the everything produced by Sinead, from the cutting of the material to doing her own photoshoots. Sinead lives and works in Peckham, south London.
