Soomin is a luxury accessories label that is an homage to creativity, individuality and love. A fusion of old and new, Soomin strives to reinvent classic techniques through modern design. Designs feature everything from embroidered motifs, textured weaving, and hand-drawn illustrations vividly reinterpreted in digital print, delivering exquisite detail and unique trompe l’oeil effects in bold colours. Soomin is a fresh alternative in a world of fast fashion and mass production. Each piece has its own story to tell and is part of a limited edition collection – only 100 of each design are ever made. Scarves are digitally printed and made in the designer’s country of birth, Korea, on fine silks and wools, with edges rolled and sewn by hand. Bags and collars are handmade and finished in London to the highest quality. THE DESIGNER Soomin was founded in 2011 by Elizabeth Soomin Yow. Elizabeth attended the University of Technology, Sydney, graduating with a BA in Fashion Design and French Studies. She is a winner of the coveted NSW Business Chamber Textile, Clothing, and Footwear Industry Award, which provides lucrative seed funding for promising young Australian designers. Prior to launching her eponymous label, Elizabeth worked extensively in high-end fashion embroidery and bridal couture. Elizabeth's designs draw inspiration from her cultural heritage as well as her eclectic personal experiences - born in Korea but raised in Australia, having lived in France and now based in London - her adventures impact her creativity. Family and friends are a crucial part of her life and she cherishes the contact she has with them - despite the distance, daily calls to her mother are scheduled into her day. Her family and friends impact what she creates - their personal style, their stories, interests, art - resulting in sincere pieces that are layered with love and affection, a window into Elizabeth’s creative spirit. ELIZABETH’S SOURCES OF INSPIRATION "Embroidery, hand weaving, unusual materials, crystals, my beautiful mother, my quirky sister, hand-drawn sketches, my girlfriends, Kandinsky, Degas, painted ceilings, mosaics, orchids, and food: most notably, chips with aioli, samgyupsal, and steak." - See more at: http://www.soomin.co.uk/about#sthash.N25H4QrH.dpuf
