For over 20 years London based designer-artisans Patrick Whitaker & Keir Malem have built an international reputation for body based design. Early Whitaker Malem collections set out to explore the concept of wearable sculpture using pioneering leather moulding techniques. Having attracted avid interest from both celebrity clients & the fashion press the duo went on to enhance the designer collections of Givenchy, Gucci, Valentino & Tommy Hilfiger with their exquisitely crafted leatherwear. A natural progression into the varied world of film costume has provided the opportunity to further develop technical knowledge and use of materials, whilst forging creative relationships with highly regarded costume designers. Some career highlights of the past twenty years have included: Images by Ritts, Testino & Newton. Alek Wek's gilded body sculpture for McQueen's first Givenchy Couture show. Halle Berry emerging from the sea wearing her knife belt. Developing The Dark Knight Batsuit. Costuming Matthew Fox as Racer X. Various museum & British Council cultural projects.
