Following an inspiring visit to Scandinavia by one of our team, this week’s list is a mini curation of all the things we love from the capital of minimalist design…
On a recent visit to Stockholm I discovered the heavenly cardamom rolls, freshly baked and available in every cafe. As my new favourite pastry, I need to find the local version – so I plan on trying the ones from Fabrique Bakery.
On my list of interiors wants is definitely a sofa from Danish brand Muuto. Simple, sleek and beautifully made, their ‘rest series’ has all the hallmarks of great Scandinavian design.
If there’s one highstreet brand I follow religiously, it is hands down Arket. Beautiful design, sustainably made pieces, alongside an edit of other carefully curated brands – the Swedish store just ticks all the style boxes.
Woman at War is a just-released Icelandic film ‘featuring an environmental activist modestly taking on the world, one electric pylon at a time’ (to quote Variety). Despite the heavy global topic, it’s pure feel-good with a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score to encourage you further.
Having taken to the Scandi concepts of ‘hygge’ and ‘fika’ more than easily, I’m now trying to be a bit more ‘lagom’. Swedish for 'just enough’ it’s all about living with less and being more mindful about what you buy. I can’t wait to read this book on the subject.
My Swedish pal introduced me to a great bar called London Calling Sweden, specialising in delicious Swedish craft beer and cheeses you won’t find anywhere else. It’s an amazing venue with beer tastings, live music and a great location in the centre of the Bermondsey Beer Mile. All Scandi barmen too – so there’s plenty to look at!
