ALÉMAIS may hail from the land down under, but this season the Aussie label looks to the wonders and myths of Greece for the inspiration behind its latest collection, Hera. Notice the laurel leaves, olive oil and lemons making up the tablecloth-inspired print swathing the Sofia shirt? It’s cut from a breezy blend of cotton and linen and shaped to a relaxed silhouette to keep you cool whether you’re in Australia or Athens.
Drawing on Creative Director, Lesleigh Jermanus’s Lebanese heritage, Alémais creates contemporary collections of optimistic prints, patchworks and embroideries, using Australian-based talent and supporting artisanal communities. The brand strives towards transparency and sustainability, prioritising natural, organic, renewable and regenerated fibres wherever possible.
'Made with 56% linen. Linen is made from the fibres of the flax plant. Flax is resilient and can grow in poor soil, using less water than cotton to produce.'
