Alighieri founder Rosh Mahtani’s fascination with Dante’s Divine Comedy was sparked during her studies at the University of Oxford and this 24kt gold-plated necklace cites the epic work. It’s handcrafted in the label’s Hatton Garden studio with a textured charm inspired by Dante’s guide through the afterworld, Virgil, who is referred to as il maestro – the master – and la fonte – the fountain of knowledge – then suspended from a slender box chain.
Founded in 2014, Alighieri creates jewellery inspired by Dante Alighieri’s ‘Divine Comedy’. Its ‘Modern Heirlooms’ are all handcrafted in London. Core pieces are cast in recycled bronze before being plated in gold, or made in solid sterling silver, supplied by certified members of the Responsible Jewellery Council.
