Part of Birkenstock’s collaboration with Central Saint Martins, these black Bukarest sandals are the creation of MA student Alecsander Rothschild, a Danish designer whose directional aesthetic is informed by French-Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi. They’re made from oiled nubuck leather with a sculptural topstitched vamp that’s interwoven with velcro straps and rest on the signature moulded cork-latex footbed.
With its famously comfortable soft cork footbed, the 250-year old Birkenstock brand is enjoying a new wave of popularity, with its Boston suede clogs, Madrid and Arizona sandals stealing the spotlight thanks to cosy shearling and big buckle iterations.
