Mara Hoffman's eco-conscious design credentials stem from her debut collection, launched just after her graduation from New York's Parsons School of Design and this yellow Lici midi skirt is an elegant example. It's crafted from lyocell – a sustainably sourced material generated from wool pulp – blended with organic cotton and shaped with a mid-rise waist, then simply finished with front patch pockets. Style it with a shirt or blouse and flats for an easy daytime look.
Mara Hoffman’s prints have been a summer staple since 2000. The label is now shifting gears and embracing more sustainable practices, including recycled, organic and animal-friendly materials, lower-impact production and artisan suppliers - an approach that matches their new aesthetic of softer colours and artful prints.
'Made with 77% organic cotton and 23% lyocell. Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides and fertilisers, uses less water and emits up to 46% less greenhouse gas than non-organic. Lyocell is made from plant cellulose. While chemicals are used in its production, it is a closed-loop process, meaning that chemicals can be extracted and waste water reused.'
