Sunita Mukhi is a British handbag designer best known for her eponymous bespoke, crystal red carpet clutches. Recognised for the signature embellished Evil Eye collection, Sunita Mukhi bags are created as an heirloom, something every woman will be proud to pass from one generation to the next. Born and raised to Indian parents in Malta, Sunita Mukhi was exposed to sumptuous fabrics from a very young age due to her family’s textile business. Additionally experiencing a new world of deluxe cultures and exotic fabrics with her stay in Nigeria, Africa. She had an interest in fashion and design from a very young age; because of her very beautiful and creative mother and her father’s opulent and luxurious textiles business. This interest was always within her but emerged after she moved away from the family business in Malta to Nigeria. In 2011 she moved to London permanently, which is when the diversity of this city, in terms of culture and fashion, sought out to be a perfect fit for her label. Sunita Mukhi’s designs have been worn by fashion icons like Anna Dello Russo and British model Kelly Brook, admired and followed for their sense of style. The individuality that each of her bags have, makes her brand stand out and catch one’s eye. Each of her bags has a story behind it of a great woman such her Capsule Collection that celebrates Women who have not had an easy time achieving greatness but even in the face of daunting odds, have still managed to rise to the top. This Collection was embraced for its striking detail and character. Sunita recently created a teen line inspired from her daughter, Serena’s lifestyle, known as ‘Serena by Sunita Mukhi’ collection that launched in Urban Outfitters, London July 2104. The symbol of the Evil Eye has long been recognized as a sign of protection and good luck. She had a burning desire to incorporate that in one of her designs and she feels one can identify with wanting the protection over those that wear it whilst the bright and vibrant colors together with the prominent design makes the bags in this collection stand out. Sunita Mukhi has been invited to give interviews and talk about her passion worldwide and many of her works of art are in international publications today. She is showcased in the luxurious Landmark and Dorchester Hotels in London which are a huge pride to her but most importantly, she has had the honour of working with charities close to her heart and designing individual pieces for them to auction and raise money for very worthy causes and she would say that this is by far the best opportunity that has arisen from her work as it gives her a chance to give back. Sunita designs a bag for the annual Pink Ribbon Ball to raise funds for breast cancer research. This cause is very close to her heart as she lost her mother to breast cancer many years ago. She recently designed a limited edition clutch bag for Splendours of the Commonwealth Charity, founded by the Commonwealth Countries Leag
