Where did Acne Studios get its famous face motif from? Well, it all started when Creative Director Jonny Johansson spotted a Swedish man during a show fitting that sported an expression he deemed “not too happy, not too sad, but somewhere in between.” Fast forward a few years, and the neutral emoticon can be spotted throughout the label’s collections – and even on accessories like the Akila cardholder, which brandishes the motif front and centre.
Initially specialising in jeans, Swedish multi-disciplinary fashion house Acne Studios is now a byword for modern classics infused with Scandinavian cool, including its much-imitated fringed scarf.
