A graduate of French and Italian, Rosh Mahtani founded Alighieri with a passion for literature in the forefront of her mind. Named after an Italian poet, the Hatton Garden-based label crafts the Calliope bracelet from 24-carat yellow gold-plated bronze – with a rocky texture to represent the beauty to be found in trying times. As for the string of 20 freshwater peanut pearls? Well, they signify the light at the end of the tunnel.
Founded in 2014, Alighieri creates jewellery inspired by Dante Alighieri’s ‘Divine Comedy’. Its ‘Modern Heirlooms’ are all handcrafted in London. Core pieces are cast in recycled bronze before being plated in gold, or made in solid sterling silver, supplied by certified members of the Responsible Jewellery Council.
