Alighieri's The Faint Moonlight necklace cites the lines 'In this decayed hole among the mountains / In the faint moonlight, the grass is singing' from T.S Eliot’s poem The Waste Land (1922). It's crafted in Hatton Garden, London with a 24kt gold-plated 9kt gold crescent-moon pendant adorned with a round-cut sapphire, then suspends from a slender 9kt gold chain.
Founded in 2014, Alighieri creates jewellery inspired by Dante Alighieri’s ‘Divine Comedy’. Its ‘Modern Heirlooms’ are all handcrafted in London. Core pieces are cast in recycled bronze before being plated in gold, or made in solid sterling silver, supplied by certified members of the Responsible Jewellery Council.
