The Monkey 24kt Gold-Plated Pendant Necklace

Alighieri’s pendant necklace is part of a capsule collection celebrating the Chinese New Year. It’s crafted in England from bronze plated with 24kt gold, using the ancient practice of wax casting to achieve its time-worm look and consists of a fine rolo chain from which suspends a monkey charm – a nod to the animal which symbolises liveliness, confidence and intelligence.

Founded in 2014, Alighieri creates jewellery inspired by Dante Alighieri’s ‘Divine Comedy’. Its ‘Modern Heirlooms’ are all handcrafted in London. Core pieces are cast in recycled bronze before being plated in gold, or made in solid sterling silver, supplied by certified members of the Responsible Jewellery Council.
