It’s hand-embroidered by artisans from rural India with varied bunches of flowers – reflecting their sacred and fortuitous value in the country – and cut to a loose shape with an elasticated off-the-shoulder neckline and side slip pockets. Layer it over the included slip and enjoy how the sun heightens the delicate quality of the semi-sheer fabric.
Artist and textile designer Marissa Maximo works with small artisanal communities, especially disadvantaged women, to create her breezy, free-spirited dresses and separates in an environmentally-conscious way, using natural fibres like cotton (organic where possible) voile, muslin and silk, and non-toxic vegetable dyes.
