Anaak’s orange Khimsar dress has a square neck balanced by puffed short sleeves, reflecting the label’s enduring bohemian mood. It’s ethically handmade in India from lightweight crinkled cotton – the fibres are spun on a traditional manual machine – and falls to a maxi length with a dropped hem.
Artist and textile designer Marissa Maximo works with small artisanal communities, especially disadvantaged women, to create her breezy, free-spirited dresses and separates in an environmentally-conscious way, using natural fibres like cotton (organic where possible) voile, muslin and silk, and non-toxic vegetable dyes.
