Brazilian footwear brand Cariuma is built upon three pillars - sustainability, comfort, and style. Launched in 2018, founders David Python and Fernando Porto wanted to create trainers that were better for the environment and for the people to be able to walk in comfort. Take the Salvas design, a classic and minimalist low-top decorated with the brand's leaf-shaped signature to the side. Crafted from leather certified by the Leather Working Group, the shoe is fitted with a sustainable cork insole and recycled mesh lining.
Cariuma's classic, skate-inspired designs are made with certified responsibly-sourced materials and for every pair purchased, two trees are planted in the Brazilian rainforest to directly aid reforestation.
'Cariuma chooses certified more-sustainable materials for all its trainers, including bamboo, natural rubber, organic cotton, sugarcane, cork, mamonia oil (a plant-based and organic alternative to petroleum), recycled PET and responsibly-sourced leather and suede.'
