Gabriela Hearst reinvents Chloé’s signature handbag: the Marcie. First created in 2009, it’s been a mainstay at the French House with its curved lines and equestrian details, but this season, the brand’s Creative Director is taking it back to basics. Rendered in linen to a capacious shape with two leather top handles and a tonal logo neatly placed on the front, this roomy design forgoes the 70s folk spirit and distinct equine features of its predecessors.
Founded in 1952 by Gaby Aghion, Chloé upended the formal traditions of couture fashion with its bohemian aesthetic. Under icons including Karl Lagerfeld, and now Creative Director, Chemena Kamali, it continues to draw on this rich heritage to appeal to modern generations of Chloé girls, drawn to its free-spirited femininity.
'Made with at least 50% linen. Linen is made from the fibres of the flax plant. Flax is resilient and can grow in poor soil, using less water than cotton to produce.'
