Mara Hoffman’s olive-green Angelica dress follows a form-fitting silhouette with flattering contoured seams and bustier cups, reminiscent of traditional corsetry. It’s crafted from a blend of natural linen and Tencel lyocell – derived from converting dissolved wood pulp into fibre – and has contrasting black buttons made from recycled paper.
Mara Hoffman’s prints have been a summer staple since 2000. The label is now shifting gears and embracing more sustainable practices, including recycled, organic and animal-friendly materials, lower-impact production and artisan suppliers - an approach that matches their new aesthetic of softer colours and artful prints.
'Made with 60% TENCEL™ lyocell and 40% linen. TENCEL™ lyocell is made from plant cellulose and while chemicals are used in its production, it is a closed-loop process, meaning that chemicals can be extracted and waste water reused. Linen is made from the fibres of the flax plant. Flax is resilient and can grow in poor soil, using less water than cotton to produce.'
