Previously poised to become a professional tennis player, French designer Marine Serre blurs the boundaries of ready-to-wear and sportswear, as her unique collection reflects all areas of her life. Take this denim jacket from the label’s White line. Upcycled from vintage jeans, the directional piece intertwines an athletic silhouette with a tailored fit. With an assortment of washes, the light layer is doused in a crescent-moon print, which is the creative’s way of representing her cross-pollination of Eastern and Western cultures. Pretty impressive, hey?
Marine Serre’s critically-acclaimed collections have a cult following. A completely new, radically independent brand, with a hybrid mixture of classic French couture shapes, sportswear references and fabrics, the brand pioneers the production of new garments based on end-of-life materials.
'Made with 100% upcycled material. Upcycling reworks existing textiles to make a completely new item of clothing. Textiles can be in the form of new but unused fabric offcuts or pre-worn clothing. Upcycling reduces waste and maximises the resources used in the creation of the original textiles.'
