Marques' Almeida's Pre-Fall '21 collection shines a spotlight on the brand's efforts to become more environmentally conscious. Made from a combination of upcycled and recycled denim, this mini skirt is blended with organic cotton and ozone-washed - a technique that uses less water than traditional dyeing methods. It has an asymmetric buttoned fly and signature frayed hem.
Founded by designers Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida in 2011, Marques'Almeida subscribes to the Helmut Lang school of thought, where fashion is about attitude, not hemlines. With a focus on cut, colour and texture, their unique collections combine innovation, art and luxury.
Made with 43% Refibra™, 40% Recycled Cotton and 17% Organic Cotton. Refibra™ technology involves upcycling cotton scraps from garment production and transforming them into cotton pulp. This is added to wood pulp and the combined material transformed to produce TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres. Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides and fertilisers, uses less water and emits up to 46% less greenhouse gas than non-organic. Recycled cotton reduces waste, uses fewer natural resources and has a lower environmental impact.'
