Though Patagonia was originally created as a label dedicated to the demands of the great outdoors, the most demanding thing that most of us encounter daily is the morning commute (it’s basically Everest). And so the brand’s designs have become just as essential to city-life as mountaineering expeditions. With an aim to reduce the amount of waste created by the industry, the label uses recycled nylon to craft this padded gilet, for a sustainable and insulating fit.
Patagonia started small, making tools for climbers. Now, it makes clothes for outdoor adventures from trail-running to skiing and uses its voice to campaign for the protection of nature. Patagonia itself has taken impressive steps to reduce its environmental impact and set a goal for complete carbon neutrality by 2025.
As the sustainable fashion movement gathers pace, we’re shining a light on the individual pieces with eco credentials, whether that’s lower-impact natural fabrics like linen, lyocell and organic cotton, recycled fibres, or more planet-friendly manufacturing techniques. If it’s greener, it’s here.
