There are two things the Retro Pile jacket from Patagonia excels in: one, keeping you warm as you head out on that hike, and two, showing just how good recycled materials can look and feel. In line with the brand’s staunchly planet-friendly approach, this fleece is crafted entirely from recycled polyester and although we especially like the branded patch at the chest, there’s also practical pockets and a zipped collar for heat-trapping comfort.
Patagonia started small, making tools for climbers. Now, it makes clothes for outdoor adventures from trail-running to skiing and uses its voice to campaign for the protection of nature. Patagonia itself has taken impressive steps to reduce its environmental impact and set a goal for complete carbon neutrality by 2025.
As the sustainable fashion movement gathers pace, we’re shining a light on the individual pieces with eco credentials, whether that’s lower-impact natural fabrics like linen, lyocell and organic cotton, recycled fibres, or more planet-friendly manufacturing techniques. If it’s greener, it’s here.
