Childhood friends Sean Monahan and Monica Paolini combine his modern outlook with her love of vintage aesthetics to create Sea's charming ready-to-wear, including this blue Hattie mini dress. It's made in India from breezy ramie voile, which is shirred and ruffled along the high neck and balloon sleeves to evoke a bygone-era mood.
Designed by Monica Paolini and Sean Monahan at their Canal Street workshop in New York, Sea offers modern separates and feminine dresses with a twist. The duo’s line is perfectly pitched between downtown cool and uptown polish. Peplum shift tops, collared lace blouses and cropped trousers underpin the collection.
'Made with 100% ramie. Ramie fibre comes from the stems of the Ramie plant, similar to flax and linen. It is sustainable to grow, although it is harder to process than other natural fibres and requires chemical processing before spinning.'
