Veja’s white and beige Rio Branco trainers are crafted from Alveomesh, a textured fabric knitted from plastic bottles which are recycled into durable fibres. The upper also consists of water-repellent suede, leather and wild-rubber panels, while the lining is made from recycled polyester blended with organic cotton.
A cult destination for trainers, VEJA is a sustainability success story. Sourcing natural rubber directly from farmers in the Amazon rainforest, VEJA prides itself on transparency, fair trade practices and ecologically-minded agriculture, ‘infusing each stage of production with a positive impact’. Proof that style and a social conscience can co-exist.
As the sustainable fashion movement gathers pace, we’re shining a light on the individual pieces with eco credentials, whether that’s lower-impact natural fabrics like linen, lyocell and organic cotton, recycled fibres, or more planet-friendly manufacturing techniques. If it’s greener, it’s here.
