Rick Owens and Veja spent two years developing these taupe-grey trainers – an emblematic style from their new collaboration. They're produced in Brazil from V-Knit, an elasticised jersey with a sock-like fit and are accented with woven pull tabs and clear V-appliqués. The textured midsole and sole, which are made from a combination of biomaterials and wild rubber, are devised for light runs and walks.
A cult destination for trainers, VEJA is a sustainability success story. Sourcing natural rubber directly from farmers in the Amazon rainforest, VEJA prides itself on transparency, fair trade practices and ecologically-minded agriculture, ‘infusing each stage of production with a positive impact’. Proof that style and a social conscience can co-exist.
'VEJA soles are made with 18 to 22 % natural rubber. purchased directly from seringueiro (rubber tapping) communities in the Amazon forest. VEJA uses a high proportion of organic cotton in the canvas, laces and uppers of many of its models.'
