Measure Carefully
Always use the size guides on retailers' sites before you buy. Take your measurements (Levi's has a step-by-step guide), bearing in mind that fits vary between brands.
Consider Fabric Composition
100% cotton denim is the traditional fabric used for classic jeans: it's long-lasting and rigid at first but softens over time. Stretch denim typically contains 1-2% elastane, spandex, or Lycra for comfort and flexibility from day one.
Know Your Rises
Along with different shapes ranging from skinny to baggy, jeans are usually low-, mid- or high-rise, reflecting where they sit between your hips and waist, so always check the rise as well as the shape for the best fit.
