New London based designer, Alona Shelemy, fell in love with the world of jewellery at a young age. As the daughter of a fine jeweller, Alona was surrounded at home by the most precious pieces that her father believed were too beautiful to sell. This allowed for her mother to have a stunning collection which Alona would constantly play dress up with. Growing up, Alona was always interested in fashion and followed on from her degree in Design Management to work for luxury fashion brands. But something was missing… with a desire to be more creative, Alona returned to her family heritage and trained as a jewellery designer at the Gemological Institute of America in New York. This gave her the chance to go back to her real passion. Jewellery design. Alona has chosen to break away from her fine jewellery heritage, however she utilizes her skills and knowledge to create her own collection. Alona’s line allows for a young, fresh influence using a range of mixed metals with diverse finishes. Drawing inspiration from her middle-eastern and European background, the collection fuses contrasting elements so each piece is unique, beautiful and edgy. Alona’s debut collection has been featured in publications such as The Times, Vogue India, In Style, Cosmopolitan, Sunday Times Style and The Telegraph.
