Reuse, Repurpose, Reinvent: That’s the mantra of bauble-making New York City based best friends and co-founders Stacy Herzog and Sarah Reid. The duo, who met working in the fashion industry in New York, began to make bright, knotted friendship bracelets by hand, and combined them with rare vintage pieces from the 1920s-1970s to create what has become a sophisticated line of jewelry, in which each piece tells a story. Stacy and Sarah created Frieda & Nellie, a line named for Stacy’s glamorous and creative grannies, in 2010. After a trip to Ecuador in 2009, Stacy and Sarah were inspired by the diverse array of intricate knotted friendship bracelets and were instantly reminded of their friendship bracelet making days at summer camp. They both have always loved and worn their grandmothers’ vintage jewels and brought about the idea to mix the two together. Stacy and Sarah keep everything fresh by finding constant inspiration in their daily lives in New York City. Based in New York City’s Union Square district, Frieda & Nellie includes earrings, necklaces, rings, and an eclectic mix of bracelet styles that are sold worldwide including Henri Bendel, Fred Segal, and Tomorrowland. Frieda & Nellie has been featured in major publications around the globe, including Vogue Nippon, WWD and InStyle, and has a loyal celebrity following, which includes Elizabeth Olsen, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood and Kirsten Dunst.
