Funkyoffish

Let me explain. It's a phrase derived from the words funky and an abbreviation of official, "offish". This vocab car crash first came about when friends Pixie Geldof and Ashley Williams were discussing a trip Pixie was making to her lawyer's office. She was struggling with what to wear. The dilemma: she had to look official, as she was conducting official business, but she also wanted to look funky (obvs). And so funkyoffish was born. Funkyoffish has quickly become an Instagram phenomenon, getting thousands of followers in a matter of weeks. They upload a constant stream of images from funkyoffish icons and influences from all over the fashion world and beyond. These include Lady Diana and Victoria Beckham, Karl Lagerfeld, Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele , Jeremy Scott, Bruce Weber, Alasdair McKellen, Muiccia Prada and Christopher Kane, to name just a few. 1. Karl Lagerfeld is a funkyoffish icon. He runs Chanel, THE most funkyoffish brand. Karl's responsible for a multitude of funkyoffish items such as the Chanel brick bag, the Chanel bike, and my personal fave, Chanel trainers! 2. Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele is a stylist. Described by fellow icon Karl Lagerfeld as "an eccentric", her work is funkyoffish, but so is she, seen regularly wearing full Jeremy Scott tracksuits whilst on holiday in St. Tropez, CCDD is the full funkyoffish package (names that abbreviate well are good as well). 3. Miuccia Prada is the ultimate funkyoffish icon, she is at the helm of not one, but two funkyoffish fashion brands Prada and Miu Miu. Banana earrings, 50s inspired car prints, floral embellished sunglasses, pink and black polkadots - these are all the epitome of funkyoffish. Funkyoffish is a way of dressing and an attitude. As the pair say, the term can be used in the same way as "smart casual". It's a way of describing a cool, young, London style that is emerging. It's slightly kitsch, there is a sense of humour, but it is always immaculately chic. If you're feeling inspired to become more funkyoffish, here are some tips: 1. The ultimate funkyoffish logos: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes. 2. Pink The funkyoffish colour of choice. 3. Sportswear and streetwear Palace, Nike, Adidas This is only really acceptable if combined with a more official, funkyoffish element. 4. Smiling is very funkyoffish and it's free. In case you are a little confused, the following are a couple of pointers to stay funkyoffish: 1. It's a balancing act, too much funky and you end up looking like Lady Gaga. To much offish and you're Maggie Thatcher. 2. Being mean Funkyoffish is not just about the way you dress, it's also an attitude. No meanies! No devil wears Prada! (just the devil bit, keep the Prada!) I hope this helps clear up some of the mysteries surrounding the funkyoffish phenomenon. Thank you :)
