Alexandra Hadjikyriacou is a knitwear designer based in London and the creator of the label ‘HAD’. Born in Cyprus, Alexandra moved to London in 2008 to study Textiles at Central Saint Martins. Having successfully graduated from the BA she then got accepted onto the MA Fashion knitwear course and gained experience at fashion houses such as Preen and Tom Ford. Craftsmanship being at her heart, Alexandra directed herself back to Cyprus to discover a local knitting factory that produced football scarves. The combination of her meticulous methods of designing and the industrial knitting machines culminated in her first Autumn/ Winter 2014 collection for ‘HAD’. Alexandra feeds off cultures across the globe and grabs inspiration from often – unexpected elements of civilizations. Her love for craftsmanship drives her to combine examples of unwritten textile methods with innovative forms of knitting. Alexandra’s abstract ways of twisting elements, result in complex ready-to-wear knitwear that incorporate indigenous tradition into contemporary fashion.
