The Janet Reger Brand was established by innovative designer Janet Reger in 1966. Born in the East End of London shortly before the outbreak of World War Two, Janet Reger went on to attend De Montfort University in Leicester. Here she was quickly identified as one of the most promising designers of her year and upon graduating the job offers came thick and fast. Janet was originally employed as a freelance designer by the major industry players of the era such as Marks and Spencer, Rosy of Paris and Slix swimwear. Having established her base in Zurich, Janet was able to gain a wealth of experience in London as well as all over Europe. In 1966 Janet returned to London and decided to set up her own lingerie business with her husband Peter Reger. Whilst she was the creative talent, Peter Reger managed the day to day running and sales. The launch of Janet Reger's first collection in 1966 was met by a great deal of industry scepticism - at the time plain functional undergarments were the norm, putting Janet's bold designs in stark contrast. However with the era of female emancipation approaching, Janet's customers were the sexy fashionistas of their day. The business grew rapidly from a small Paddington back street store to an internationally recognised lingerie brand with widespread press acclaim and a huge celebrity following. By the mid 1970's, with a rapidly expanding business, Janet and Peter had proven the industry experts wrong. Where once Janet had been a 'lone fish,' swimming against the tide within the lingerie industry, she quickly became its style guru; with her designs turning lingerie into a fashion statement. The company's reputation for the finest quality ladies' lingerie grew and, today the list of Janet Reger customers includes leading stores and boutiques, celebrities and Royal family members from around the world. In 2005, the prestigious Queen's Award for Export Achievement was awarded to Janet Reger Ltd. In 2005, Janet Reger sadly passed away; her only daughter Aliza Reger, who had adopted a wide understanding of the business from an early age, took over all control of the company. Since then Aliza has continued to develop the brand, keeping the luxurious Janet Reger lingerie reputation alive and making it stronger than ever. 40 years later and the business still retains the core values Janet Reger instilled back in 1966 - quality of design, luxury fabrics and components, as well as passion, style and superb customer service.
