Born in Algéria but based in Paris, Colonna came up in the pre-Internet days of the early ’90s alongside contemporaries like Helmut Lang, Martin Margiela, and Martine Sitbon. He practiced an edgy, rock-and-roll sort of minimalism. In 2009 he quietly launched a line of luxurious cashmere separates, revisiting pieces from his archives and fine-tuning them with new fabrics and know-how picked up on jobs in the Far East.
