Juan Carlos Obando is a Los Angeles based women’s wear and accessories brand founded in 2008. His work is defined by the powerful use of color and an unassuming approach to eveningwear. A former Art Director of advertising powerhouses such as Saatchi & Saatchi and Young & Rubicam, he started showing his collections in New York City after a private audience with Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. Juan Carlos has played an important role in reinvigorating the concept of modern American eveningwear recently being awarded as a first runner up on the 10th Anniversary of the prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. His collections are carried in world-renowned stockists such as Barneys New York. Global brands including Swarovski and M.A.C. Cosmetics are key supporters of his fashion career. “My work is primarily concerned with color and fluid structures. Although intentionally minimal, I always attempt to create other layers of complexity, embracing the challenge of creating essential or seemingly simple work that is expressive.”
