The essence of the brand lies in the realization that practical things are also beautiful. Beth Goodman was born in New York with an innate ability to make things beautiful. After studying art in London, she went on to study textile and fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology and continued her post-graduate life working in New York. Work and pleasure often led her to Europe, especially to her beloved France. She began a lingerie company, Sabeth-Row, where her designs won awards and were featured in publications such as Vogue and W. Finding that her life needed a bit more space and sunshine, Beth accepted an offer to work in Los Angeles and began styling in the advertising, music and film world, where she became known for her classic, timeless and chic choices for her clients. Drawn again to her love of textiles and making things, Beth found herself attracted to handbag and wallet designs, and in 2009, the Marie Turnor brand was born. Gaining inspiration from unexpected yet everyday objects, Beth’s early designs quickly gained a cult-like following. The Picnic clutch, a best-seller, was conceived when Beth spotted an elegant woman in Paris walking down the street with a paper bag in her hand, while the Idea bag was designed out of necessity after carrying samples in an Ikea bag. Today, the brand offers a range of products, from Lunches, Dinners and Snaks, three variations on the best-selling Picnic, to wallets and handbags.
