Designing shoes for a living was the natural career choice for Amina Muaddi, the Jordan-born, shoe obsessed designer behind luxury footwear brand Oscar Tiye. Muaddi began her fashion education studying Fashion Communication at the European Institute of Design in Milan and then worked as a stylist for l’Uomo Vogue Italy and GQ America. A few years later, triggered by a desire to transmit her creativity in a more powerful way and to create a pure and perfectly balanced elegant shoe, Muaddi launched Oscar Tiye with her business partner Irina Curutz. Muaddi spent an invaluable year in Italy’s Veneto region to learn the shoe trade first hand and, having lived in 4 countries, Milan is home for Muaddi and Oscar Tiye. The feminine footwear expresses Muaddi’s personality and her Middle Eastern roots through the details, themes and gold scarab beetle, the traditional Arab good luck charm, that feature. Zoe Saldana and Hailee Steinfeld are already fans, signalling Oscar Tiye is definitely a brand to watch.
