It's 1964 - Just two years after arriving at the RCA to study fashion, Raymond 'Ossie' Clark's already heir apparent to London's fashion crown with the trouser suit that sets the world alight two years ahead of Saint Laurent's 'Le Smoking' (Don't forget, this is a time when a woman in trousers was seriously shocking stuff). Ossie Clark, dressmaker extraordinaire, is that rarest of breeds: a male fashion designer who understands, instinctively, the female anatomy. His cutting skills- legendary in fashion circles - are a consequence of his natural talent at translating the curves of a woman's body into cloth. His clothes are floaty, romantic, and completely sexy, with plunging necklines, nipped-in waists and with a unique structure that's the result of freehand scissor work. Clark is unfazed by dressing any kind of figure. By the end of the sixties and early seventies he'll be undisputed King of the King's Road; the embodiment of Swinging London. Cut to 2012 and that irrepressible livewire spirit lives on. Reviving Ossie's statement prints, flattering drapery and fluidly feminine silhouettes, the collection mixes reverence and retro-glamour with a dash of radicalism. Refreshed for the 21 st century with signature plunge necks, asymmetric cuts and flowing sleeves for the modern woman with day to night pieces and a palette of flattering monochrome with touches of statement colour.
