Many things have influenced Robert Rodriguez, but it was Christian Dior that played an integral role in shaping his design style and aesthetic into what it is today. Growing up, Robert's mother gave him a book about the designer and it was that book that became Robert's bible and doorway into the world of fashion. Trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York where he was recognized for his beautifully executed designs, Robert received the prestigious Critics Award for Best Designer of the Year. After completing his education, Robert accepted a design position at Christian Dior, bringing him full circle back to his childhood inspiration. Robert's exceptional artistry and styling, as well as his commitment to elegant dressmaking quickly gained him recognition within the industry. In 2003, Robert co-founded his namesake label Robert Rodriguez, a sophisticated, feminine, contemporary collection. Since the launch of Robert Rodriguez, the designer has subsequently created Robbi and Nikki, a more youthful interpretation of Robert’s signature aesthetic. All of Robert’s collections incorporate the principles of haute couture—focusing on fashion, quality and fit. Robert was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in 2010. The Robert Rodriguez collections have garnered widespread acclaim from retailers, fashion editors, bloggers, and trendsetters worldwide. Celebrity clients include Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Adriana Lima, Olivia Wilde, and Kate Upton. The collections are available at luxury department stores in the United States including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom and specialty boutiques as well as internationally at Holt Renfrew, Harvey Nichols, and Harrods.
