Tara Starlet is a vintage inspired fashion line with responsible ethics and a timeless charm. For the first six years, the label was created and run by a mother and daughter team. Tara Starlet was a family business, born out of a shared passion for the glory days of the 1940s and ‘50s, and a mutual concern for the well being of our planet and it’s inhabitants. Unfortunately, in October 2011, Tara’s mother Joanne devastatingly passed away, after battling with leukemia for six years. Throughout this difficult period Joanne worked full time; giving her all to Tara Starlet, and making it what it has become today. Since then, Tara has heroically continued to inject her mother’s vision, passion and determination into running the label and making Joanne’s creation live on. Joanne’s own exemplary patterns are still replicated today. The intimate nature of the company proves that the best things really do come in small packages. Inspiration comes from the original Pin-up paintings and silver screen starlets like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe as well as a collection of original patterns. The collection is full of dresses for rolling around in the overgrown grass, playsuits for picnics in the park, and circle skirts for swing dancing. The garments will take you back in time to the days long-gone, where clothes were cherished until the elbows were worn and the buttons were lost. “We want our customers to treasure their pieces for as long as possible, true style never goes out of fashion!” Tara Starlet advocates recycling and original buttons and trimmings are incorporated into the designs wherever possible, giving our collection true authenticity. End of roll fabrics are also used, putting to good use what would otherwise be waste. This means that the designs are often made in a selection of different fabrics with a limited amount of garments of each one, so you won’t find hundreds of other women wearing the same thing! On top of this, the entire collection is made locally in London, to keep your carbon footprint dainty. These ecological techniques help to make the collection authentic, unique and exclusive, and at the same time, keep your conscience clear as crystal!
