In its own words, Alemais is the “creative expression” of its founder; Australian designer Lesleigh Jermanus. A graduate in fine art, the designer’s education continues to inform her work to date – a characteristic exhibited perfectly in the Annie shirt, for example. The piece is woven in soft, breezy linen to a classic, utility silhouette that’s stitched with flap pockets and buttoned cuffs. The artistic influences? They appear in the all-over abstract pattern, splattered across its blank canvas.
Drawing on Creative Director, Lesleigh Jermanus’s Lebanese heritage, Alémais creates contemporary collections of optimistic prints, patchworks and embroideries, using Australian-based talent and supporting artisanal communities. The brand strives towards transparency and sustainability, prioritising natural, organic, renewable and regenerated fibres wherever possible.
'Made with 100% linen. Linen is made from the fibres of the flax plant. Flax is resilient and can grow in poor soil, using less water than cotton to produce.'
