Throughout her career as a wardrobe stylist, Simone Harouche has assembled an incredible collection of antique textiles and clothing, used as inspiration when designing for her clients. Simone's collection spans from 19th century dowry textiles to 1970's Thea Porter kaftans. As her styling business blossomed, she continued to acquire pieces, not knowing what she would eventually do with this mounting collection. One day she decided to make something for herself, combining her treasured antique textiles and her love of handbags. It wasn't long until people started to take notice. One person in particular though, prompted her to think about turning this "one off item" into something bigger. Simone's client and fashion icon, Nicole Richie, loved the bag and asked if she could have one for herself. After Nicole was spotted wearing the handbag, Simone was inundated with requests and questions about her creation. What was once just a little collector's hobby was turning into much more. In 2009, Simone launched her line of handcrafted bags, "Simone Camille". The result? A collection of one-of-a-kind carryalls, shoulder bags and hobos expertly pieced together from vintage choli dresses, dowry pouches, wedding sashes, wall hangings and antique tribal costumes dating as far back as the 19th century and collected from places such as India, Pakistan, Egypt, Morocco, Peru and Nepal. Lavishly embroidered with light-catching coins, tassels and beading they add a touch of the exotic to any outfit, making the ultimate gypsy statement. With the success of the vintage collection, Simone Camille has created the "SKINS" collection made of a unique selection of luxurious leathers. This beautifully crafted collection captures the unique Simone Camille vibe by incorporating vintage and one of kind components to each bag.
